Beautiful rolling lawns with mature trees, garden areas and a stately home of local historic significance provided the framework for 440 Cherokee, a residential development styled after a small town neighborhood.

The existing, historic Blair House (circa 1895), with its pool and gardens was preserved for the use and enjoyment of the residents. Drives and home sites were carefully arranged to preserve the existing trees and establish the small town atmosphere, with the impact of vehicle traffic minimized by creating rear alleys, garages and parking spaces.

Brick sidewalks, lit with gas lanterns lead to Cherokee and the surrounding community, while the park terrace is centrally located at the community's interior to serve as the neighborhood's primary open space. A central park is shaded with mature trees, and is planted with period landscape material which surrounds a brick paved seating terrace.
